Our 3 & 4 Year Old Preschool Development Program.

 

Our Preschool is an active place for children 3 to 4 years old. This Christian preschool class develops the whole child, preparing them for our Pre-Kindergarten Class.

Language Arts

  • Recognizing upper and lower case alphabet
  • Recognizing their names
  • Understanding the calendar, knowing months of the year & days of the week
  • Identifying and naming colors
  • Identifying and naming basic and complex shapes
  • Developing vocabulary, listening skills, and attention span
  • Developing the ability to translate personal thoughts, recall events, and articulate them into sentences in front of a group

Social-emotional Development

  • Developing a positive self-image and creativity
  • Learning to interact, share, and cooperate with a peer group
  • Learning to identify feelings in oneself and others

Mathematics

  • Recognition and count numbers 1 – 30
  • Developing basic math concepts such as patterns, sorting, classifying simple addition and subtractions
  • Learning to recognize and compare, shapes, sizes and quantities

Art & Crafts

  • Learning self expression through working with art materials
  • Express feeling and ideas
  • Develop creativity and imagination
  • Foster an appreciation for various art forms

Music

  • Developing a sense of rhythm and auditory memory
  • Sequence used in instruments and song
  • The ability to explore cause and effect

Science / Social Studies

  • Developing the curiosity necessary to wonder why, what, when, where, and how, through hands-on projects
  • Developing an awareness of the world around them
  • Learning Seasons, Safety, Community Service, Transportation, Mammals, Insects, Amphibians and Dinosaurs

Fine Motor Development

  • Fostering hand/eye coordination and pre-writing skills (through experiences with using crayons, chalk, brushes, tearing, pasting, stringing, molding, etc.)
  • Increasing skills connected with daily practical experiences (such as dressing, buttoning, hanging coats, eating with a spoon or fork)
  • Developing small muscle control (through manipulative play, interlocking blocks, finger plays, puzzles, etc.)

Gross Motor Development

  • Fostering the ability to run, gallop, jump, hop, skip and throw by participation in individual/group games and activities
  • Developing balance, coordination, and self-expression by involvement in musical exercises, games and outside play

3 & 4 Year Old Goals

  • Sit “crisscross applesauce” during circle time (attention span)
  • Recognize their written name
  • Trace their name
  • Grip/hold a pencil and crayon in the correct manner
  • Cut straight lines and basic shapes
  • Recognize upper and lower case letters and the sound that each letter makes
  • Learn the months, the seasons, days of the week, 8 basic colors, and 9 basic shapes
  • Count from 1-20
  • Basic math concepts: patterns, sorting and sequencing, classifying, simple addition and subtraction
  • Developing balance, coordination and self expression by involvement in music, games, and outside play
  • Develop creativity and imagination through arts and crafts
  • Interact with one another in a kind and loving manner through cooperation, sharing, and problem solving
  • To have an awareness of the character of God and stories in the Bible
