Santa Clara Christian School teachers are trusted guardians and mentors who provide solid academic and spiritual guidance for students to help develop their young minds.

Kindergarten
Mrs. Barboza

Mrs. Barboza began teaching at Santa Clara Christian School in August of 2018. She has been teaching elementary students for over ten years. She attended Bethany College for both her undergraduate degree and Teaching Credential Program. Mrs. Barboza loves teaching and spending time with her husband and son (especially at Disneyland!). She loves cooking for her family, being with friends at home and church, and playing with her dog (also a long-time member of her family).


First Grade
Mrs. Balina

Mrs. Balina graduated from Golden State Baptist College and soon after started a family. She and her husband were blessed with three children. When they were of school age, Mrs. Balina started teaching at North Valley Baptist Schools and taught First Grade for six years. She took a break from teaching for a few years and went back to school to earn a certificate as an Educational Therapist. Mrs. Balina started teaching at Santa Clara Christian School in August of 2021.


Second Grade
Mrs. Nice

Mrs. Nice is the co-founder of Santa Clara Christian School and has been teaching for more than 25 years. She has her BA in Liberal Arts from Pepperdine University, a California Multiple Subject Teaching Credential from California State University, Northridge, and an MA in Education with an emphasis in Educational Technology from Pepperdine University. When she is not teaching, she is reading, gardening, or spending time with her family . She is married to Mr. Nice and has 4 children and 2 grandsons.


Ms. Perez has been a part of the SCCS family for many years. Since June 2015, she has aided in 2nd Grade, Elementary Extended Care, Preschool, and Office Administration. Ms. Perez has attended both De Anza College and San Jose State University for degrees in Early Childhood Education and Child and Adolescent Development. 3rd Grade was the school year that first inspired Ms. Perez to become a teacher and she is beyond excited to be sharing that love of learning and education with her students. Ms. Perez also has a huge love for the performing arts; especially theatre and dance, so when she is not in the classroom, she is most likely dancing, singing, or drinking lots of coffee.

Third Grade

Ms. Flood has been working with elementary students for over seven years. While completing her first year of work at SCCS, she simultaneously earned her degree in secondary education from Golden State Baptist College. Having attended Christian schools from a young age, she is passionate about supporting and furthering quality Christian education. When she is not teaching, Ms. Flood enjoys working at her church, spending time with family, and traveling.

Fourth Grade

Mrs. Welty loves teaching children and especially enjoys seeing their “light bulb” moments! She has been an elementary school teacher for more than 25 years and has a Bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Hyles-Anderson College. In 2019, she also earned her National Certificate for STEM Teaching through the NISE. During the summer, she spends her time in West Africa training teachers at a school in Liberia. Outside of school, she enjoys music and spending time with family and friends. Her family consists of her husband, Nathan; her three adult children, Kendra, Ariana, and Brandon; and their two cats Oreo and Cookie.
